Tax Calculator UK: Take-Home Pay

Tax calculator UK: estimate annual, monthly and weekly take-home pay after Income Tax and employee National Insurance.

How much will I take home?

£

Scotland has its own income-tax bands. England, Wales and Northern Ireland use the same bands in this illustrative calculator.

Employee Class 1 National Insurance normally stops once you reach State Pension age. This question replaces the previous age-based assumption.

How the 2026/27 calculation works

Income Tax is progressive: each rate only applies to the slice of taxable income in that band. The standard Personal Allowance is £12,570 and reduces by £1 for every £2 of adjusted net income above £100,000.

Basic rate20% Income Tax
Higher rate40% Income Tax
Additional rate45% Income Tax

For a standard employee who has not reached State Pension age, employee Class 1 NI is 8% between £12,570 and £50,270, then 2% above that. Employer NI is a separate employer cost: 15% above £5,000; it is shown here for context and is not deducted from your take-home figure.
